Sizing Guidelines and Chart for Leotards and Performance Wear
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
Here are a few tips to help you and your members with leotard and performance wear sizing.
Particular attention needs to be given when ordering lined leotards.
GENERAL SIZING GUIDELINES:
Please note that our sizing chart and recommendations are a guide only and will address the majority of sizing situations. If sizing advice is required, our staff are more than happy to assist:
The leotards and perfornance wear in the tryon boxes and in our store should be used primarily as a guide for style choice NOT size. Due to the large number of people trying them on, they become significantly stretched
The new ordered leotards and performance will be a firmer fit than the tryon garments. In addition, matt lycra is slightly firmer than shiny lycra.
The cut of the leotard/performance wear top also affects the fit. For example, a style with thin straps will be less restrictive than a style with more fabric around the arm and shoulder.
LEOTARD SPECIFIC SIZING GUIDELINES
When a leotard is lined, the stretch is reduced by approximately 2/3 in both directions as compared to an unlined leotard.

again, i
f measurements fall comfortably within a size range, then that size would be appropriate.if measurements fall in the top end of a size range, then we recommend going up a size.
How to Take the Girth Measurement:
The girth measurement is taken by beginning at the centre of the right shoulder and extending the tape measure over the bust, down through the crotch and up back to the starting point.
PERFORMANCE WEAR SPECIFIC SIZING GUIDELINES:
Long performance wear tops:
- the long performance wear top styles are designed for a relaxed fit around the bust, waist and hips. The length fit of the top will vary depending on a person’s torso length, but will generally sit around the low hip.
- it is a matter of personal choice as to how firm or loose members wish their tops to be. However, if they are excessively loose then they will not sit correctly and gape when performing the syllabus.
Size recommendation for long tops with relaxed fit:
- if measurements fall comfortably within a size range then that size would be appropriate for a relaxed fit.
- if measurements fall in the top end of a size range, then we recommend going up a size if a relaxed fit is required (or choose that size if you prefer a firm fit).
- If one or more of either the bust, waist or hip measurements fall within a larger size than the other measurements then we recommend ordering the larger size.
- Remember – lined tops will have less stretch than unlined tops.
Fitted crop performance wear tops:
- the fitted crop performance wear top styles are designed for a firm fit, similar to leotards. Again, the length fit of the top will vary depending on a person’s torso length, but will generally sit just on or just above the waist.
- The bust and waist measurements are the key to determining correct sizing.
Size recommendation for fitted crop tops:
- if bust and waist measurements fall comfortably within a size range then that size would be appropriate.
- if bust and waist measurements fall in the top end of a size range, then we recommend going up a size.
- Remember: lined tops will have less stretch than unlined tops.
Performance Wear Leggings:
The performance wear leggings styles have the following features:
- high waist
- triangle gusset
- available in 2 lengths:
- ankle length; and
- 7/8 length (9cm shorter than ankle length)
The waist and hip measurements are the key to determining correct sizing.
Size recommendation for performance wear leggings:
- if waist and hip measurements fall comfortably within a size range then that size would be appropriate.
- if waist and hip measurements fall in the top end of a size range, then we recommend going up a size.
